Elvex Impulse,
Mil-Spec, Com-550
Elvex Impulse foldable ear muff is equipped with noise
suppression and communications circuitry. Users are getting impulse noise (such
as gun fire) suppression, while the electronic circuitry enhances weak sounds,
such as an instructors voice. An impulse filter activates in four milliseconds.
Sounds exceeding 82 dB are suppressed by a gain limiter.
Also, any remnant of an impulse sound that is sent through the circuitry will be
subjected to the gain limiter.
Technical features:
-
Hearing protection is the primary objective of Elvex
Impulse and it provides 25 dB NRR (Noise Reduction Rating), as tested by
independent and certified laboratory.
-
Com-550 is a foldable hearing protector and a heavy duty
nylon case is included
-
The hearing protector has two external microphones and two
independent volume controls, positioned on the two ear cups.
-
Each ear cup is equipped with its own electronic circuitry,
thus requiring no wires between the two ear cups. The sound reception is
stereophonic, with maintained directional hearing.
-
An electronic gain limiter limits the sound produced inside
the headset to 82 dB, in order to maintain hearing protector integrity.
-
An impulse (or impact) filter electronically eliminates
impulse sounds by closing down the circuitry in four milliseconds, and opening
the circuitry again in about 1/4 second (in order to prevent echo effect).
This feature makes Elvex Impulse very effective on the shooting range. The gun
shots are eliminated, but the shooting instructor can still be heard.
-
An audio jack (3.5 mm jack) for connection of radios is
standard. This jack will provide listen-only capability (not two way
communications). The input signal will be heard in addition to the normal
ambient (the environmental) signal. The input signal will be heard even if the
headset is turned off or run out of batteries.
-
The communications features of Elvex Impulse allow you to
have close range communications in select continuous noise environments. The
microphones on the outside of the earmuffs "listen to" the environment and
send the signal to the electronic processor.
-
Frequencies below 400 Hz and above 4,000 Hz are not
processed and therefore the speech to noise ratio can be improved in many
continuous noise environments.
-
Elvex Com-550 uses four 1.5 Volt AAA batteries, two on each
side. Batteries are included. The headset will operate for approximately 200
hours on one set of batteries, under normal circumstances.
-
An auto off switch will turn off the headset after four
hours of continuous use, in order to conserve battery use.
