Letter from a Tinnitus affected patient and author

Hi,

I have just been browsing your Site on the look out for new resources of information regarding Tinnitus and found the information you provide very helpful....thank you!

I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty by introducing you to some new information. (you never know)

A few words about myself first:

I am a 45 year old British Citizen who has been living in Germany most of his life. I am currently suffering
from Tinnitus Aurium grade 4 and I have been off work since Feb 2005. I am also an active member of the German Tinnitus League (DTL).

I am also currently undergoing a Tinnitus-Retraining Program under Dr. Med Christian Hellweg in Frankfurt, Germany.

The story is too long to tell, but after countless attempts at therapy and being let down by the Germany Health Insurance Union, I was left with no other choice than to direct the rest of my energy at self help.

I have spend at least 6 weeks writing my own book which I have already published for sale online at my site www.tinnitus-online.com.

I have asked a handful of doctors and therapists I know to read the book and give an objective opinion which probably isn't possible since these people have known me for the last 3 years and are all been a part of my ongoing fight with the system.

To cut a long story short, my e-book is based on first hand encounters and offers people a whole new approach to dealing AND accepting their Tinnitus. I have now learnt to come to terms with Tinnitus and have also learnt to stop fighting it on all fronts. I have tried to understand the reason for its existence and why it chose me. Understanding why you have Tinnitus is the key to being able to live side by side with it and not waste MORE more energy and effort. In most cases, Tinnitus wont get better unless the victim wakes up and starts to fact the fact that unless he makes the effort, not much will change.

I lost everything I had except my sanity just trying to fight it. At the end of the day, the Tinnitus is present as always.....unchanged, defiant!

I still have it....in fact its still louder than ever. The difference is, I am not bothered by it anymore. Tinnitus held me in the palm of its hand for too long. We all know that Tinnitus is a form of energy designed ONLY to subject you to constant irritation through audio distraction..........that is, if you LET it of course. Its strange, I just ignore it now. Its there, but I don't notice it anymore.

I have tried to explain how I managed to get through, even after loosing my job etc.. In my book, I offer the reader an alternative route. I am dedicated in trying to help other Tinnitus Victims break out of this dilemma.

I am convinced my book will possibly help other people, especially those who have had bad experiences with Medicine and aren't quite sure which direction that want to go.

I would be delighted if you would take the time to read my book too and let me know what you think. Its not a long book and can be read in about an hour. It is also not my intention on selling trying to sell you anything use you as a source of promotion I ask you please don't class my mail as spam. If you have the time, I really would appreciate your thoughts, maybe even a "one-line" review. :o)
